As we approach the end of the year, the team here at MWL Systems are taking a look back at what 2019 has held, not just for our business, but for the technology industry as a whole. Below we will take a look at some of the most important milestones in 2019:
MWL Systems went through some amazing changes
As the business celebrated 35 years, June saw MWL Systems reach a huge and exciting milestone, as we were acquired by leading technology business Elite Group. With this acquisition, our clients have gained access to a whole host of further benefits including new services, products and significantly increased service capabilities.
MWL Systems MD, Matt Kingsley-Williams, said of this fantastic step: “Our team is looking forward to working with Elite and sharing our knowledge and skills; as well as introducing our customers to the wider Group along with what they can offer in terms of new products and services. It’s an exciting time for our team. Being part of the Elite Group will open up new opportunities for all of us, and we’re looking forward to this new chapter.”

Tech events attracted businesses from across the North West and North Wales
Our technology events have always been a popular date in the calendar for many businesses in the region. This year, however, we have taken our events up a notch, hosting comprehensive workshops that aim to de-mystify the technical jargon and essentially explain to businesses the impact that technology can have on the everyday running of a company. We have held these events in some of the most amazing venues in and around the North West and North Wales.
In late March, we hosted our Office 365 and beyond event which aimed to show attendees how they can get the most out of cloud products. Held at the beautiful Rowton Hall Hotel in Chester, the event was a huge success and highlighted the expertise of the MWL Systems team.
More recently we held our Collaboration Celebration event alongside Elite Group at Chester Racecourse. This was a real celebration of our recent acquisition and provided a great opportunity for clients – existing and new – to meet and hear from our new combined team of technology experts. Cyber security was as important as ever
With technology developing at an increasingly rapid pace, one of the most predominant issues that has faced businesses over the past year has once again been the threat of cyber-attacks.
Notably, British Airways and Uber faced hefty fines this year following large scale cyber-attacks. You will no doubt remember that British Airways had to be fined £183 million for a data breach of over 500,000 customers in June of last year. Whilst Uber was fined £385,000 after its own data breach affected more than 2.7 million UK customers in 2016.
2020 looks set to bring some great things for MWL Systems, Elite Group and the technology industry as a whole. Keep up to date with the latest innovations and news by following us on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and we very much look forward to working with you in 2020.
